It’s been a bit of a rough start but I have officially joined the 5am club! It’s an exclusive club for people who want to develop good habits. Okay I lied, it’s not exclusive but it sure feels like it.
Have you ever noticed that highly successful people talk about early mornings when asked how they got to be successful? It’s one of many things but a very important thing.
I have been busy trying to adjust to this new schedule AND get my daily YouTube videos out for Vlogmas this past week. Here’s the video where I announce my 5am Club Membership:
Short and sweet today! Meet my husband Scott and his fluffy beard. He says I was picking my nose in the video but I was ITCHING it! Tell him I was itching it! LOL. Everything I ate plus my workout routine today.
Quick food vlog of what I eat as a vegan THRIVING with Hashimoto’s Hypothryoidism. I also share some of my signature quirkiness. Vlogmas Day 10! Don’t forget to like/dislike/comment to let me know you watched! Your feedback is very much appreciated.
My energy has been INCREDIBLE lately! Being consistent really does make a huge difference. I wouldn’t be doing these videos with out your support, thank you so much for keeping me accountable!
What amazes me is that I’m able to lose weight and feel great on this lifestyle regardless of my abnormally high TSH of 5.5 – normally my TSH is under 2. In the past whenever my TSH crept above 3 I had major hypothyroid symptoms: depression, dry skin, very low energy, etc.
Many of my peers with Hashimoto’s/Hypothyroidism are on a Paleo diet as they think it’s the only way they can lose weight. They’ll say: “just looking at carbs makes me fat!”. Of course it does! Your body is in starvation mode! You’ve eliminated the most important energy source that fuels your muscles and brain cells (carbohydrates/glucose). In fact you are starving your body of what it needs. It’s only natural that your body would want to hold on to it for dear life the next time you consume carbs! The weight gain you may experience from reintroducing carbs is only temporary. No need to panic.
I personally would much rather have some temporary weight gain as a small sacrifice for long term benefits. Since switching to a high carb low fat whole foods plant based diet I have experienced:
- increased energy
- ability to eat a high amount of calories without gaining weight
- desire to exercise
- stable mood & happier disposition
- increased passion for animals and the planet
- the need to REDUCE my thyroid medications (which is why I’m temporarily hypothyroid as my body adjusts to new dosage)
- increased lean mass
If you aren’t eating a plant based diet already, what is stopping you? Help me help you, ask me anything. If you are embarrassed to ask publicly you can always ask anonymously on my Tumblr page.
Watch this one minute video of what I eat in a day for inspiration. If you’d like to see more be sure to subscribe to my channel on YouTube and of course your likes/dislikes and comments are always appreciated!
Sorry for the mash up! Being back on social media has been keeping me super busy.
Here’s what I’ve been up to…
Progress Photos & Measurements | Vlogmas Day 5
I wasn’t very happy about posting this but it had to be done. Progress photos and measurements. Eeep!
Whole Foods Grocery Haul + Everything I Ate Today | Vlogmas Day 6
12 Minute NO GYM Workout + What I Ate for WEIGHT LOSS | Vlogmas Day 7
I share the dream I had last night about my dog’s video going viral plus what I ate as a high carb low fat gluten free vegan 🙂
I’m so excited to share this video with you today for three reasons:
- I used my new camera Canon G7x for the entire video!
- There’s a brand spanking new video intro!
- I bought a new font and revamped my logo!
New tools awaken my creativity. I really need to make it a priority to get a new toy or two every year. I’m so frugal when it comes to that stuff despite the fact that I love new toys so much! Creative toys such as art supplies, drawing apps for the iPad and tools such as the Wacom Tablet — which has been on my wish list forever.
New tools also = added confidence. If I was to pick up a sport I would want to have all the necessary equipment to for that sport and I would do so without blinking an eye. From this day forward I’m giving myself permission to obtain the tools I need to support my creativity and not feel guilty about it.
Anyway, enough rambling. I invite you to watch this 2 minute video in which I use a few of my new creative tools. I would love to hear what you thought of it!
I’m not a writer. I’m a thinker. Sometimes my thoughts take over the keyboard and they might not always make sense. With that said, thank you so much for taking the time to read my ramblings.
I mentioned in my last post that I wasn’t in a hurry to get back into social media. This morning I was inspired to post last night’s dinner that was taken on my new camera!! I’m the proud new owner of a Canon G7X. I feel like a real Vlogger now! It’s not a DLSR but it’s the next best thing (actually better because I hate fiddling with manual camera settings).
My first food photo on the new camera. Not too shabby for horrible lighting. This is a huge upgrade from my iPhone 5s.
In other news Vlogmas on YouTube is in full swing! What is vlogmas? It’s committing to a video a day until Christmas. That’s it! Except, I will likely do a video a day for the entire month of December. It’s a great excuse to get more content uploaded to YouTube. Here’s Day 2 of my Vlogmas video series.
